If you are still in pain three days after your procedure, contact your dentist or surgeon for further instruction.<\/p>\n<p>Osteomyelitis is a bone infection that can occur after a dental procedure, and cause great pain in your jaw. Besides prolonged pain, a fever is another sign that you have an infection and you should call your dentist immediately.<\/p>\n<p>If you are prescribed an antibiotic, remember to completely finish the medication to prevent any infections.<\/p>\n<h3>Bleeding<\/h3>\n<p>Excessive bleeding can occur after a dental treatment. You should contact your dentist, who will stitch or suture the wound closed.<\/p>\n<h3>Residual Pain<\/h3>\n<p>When dealing with the pain you may experience after a dental procedure, always take the medication as directed by your dentist. Do not take over-the-counter medication in addition to the medication provided by your dentist. You can hurt yourself or make yourself sick by taking too much medication. Always consult your dentist before taking other medications after a dental \u00a0procedure. Trying to deal with the pain in ways not prescribed by your dentist could promote other dental issues.<\/p>\n<h3>Ways to Avoid Recovery Issues<\/h3>\n<p>48 hours of rest is recommended after a dental treatment, as it aids in the healing process. Strenuous physical activity, drinking from a straw, or smoking can increase your chance of opening any healing wounds or stitches and increase your risk of getting an infection.<\/p>\n<p>Always follow any instructions your dentist may give you after your surgery, and keep to any check up appointments after a dental procedure.
